Free invoice templates

Pick the template for the tool you already use. Every one carries the same seven required invoice fields — business identity, client details, invoice number, issue and due dates, line items with quantity × rate, totals with tax broken out, and payment instructions — and every download is direct, with no email gate and no watermark.

Which one should you use?

If you want the arithmetic done for you, take Excel — its formulas total each line, the subtotal, the tax and the amount due as you type. If you want to type straight into the document without opening an editor, take the fillable PDF. If your branding is the point — the invoice has to match the proposal you already designed — take the Canva invoice template, which uploads into Canva as a base layer so you can put your logo and colors on top without a Pro subscription. For everything else, Word and Google Docs give you the most control over wording and layout.

None of these templates number your invoices, chase them, or keep records — that is the trade you make for layout control. The fields that legally matter are covered in how to invoice a client, every method is compared in how to make an invoice, and the free invoice calculator will do the totals if that is the only part you dislike.
